Certified Putrescible Organics Facilities

In November 2015 the SWA Board adopted Ordinance 26, implementing new organic waste diversion requirements of State Assembly Bill 1826 within the SWA service region (the City and County of Sacramento). As of April 1, 2016, businesses are required to divert organic wastes from disposal. For businesses or franchised waste haulers to receive diversion credit for  food waste (the putrescible portion of organic waste; as opposed to green / yard waste), the food waste must be delivered to a SWA-Certified Putrescible Organics Facility.
